Free Weekend Passes to Colonial Williamsburg to Military !

Williamsburg Va real estate search <!–A couple stops to photograph the Governor’s Palace in Colonial Williamsburg.

–>Colonial Williamsburg is offering free weekend passes to military members, veterans and their families for Memorial Day.

The “Honoring Service to America” pass provides admission to Colonial Williamsburg’s historic area, including the daily Revolutionary City program, the Capitol and Governor’s Palace, Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and Bassett Hall.

The pass also includes a walking tour that includes an overview of Colonial Williamsburg, bus shuttle service from the Visitor Center, parking at the Visitor Center and a showing of the movie ” Williamsburg, The Story of a Patriot.”

The free admission is good today through Monday May 236, 2008 and is available to active duty military, reservists, retirees, veterans and their families. The service member does not need to be present for family members of currently deployed troops. Veterans who separated from the military before retirement can bring a copy of their honorable discharge paperwork, DD Form 214, as proof of service.

Military members can also receive special rates on lodging at Colonial Williamsburg hotels, museums, dining, shopping, golf and some children’s activities.

On Monday, Colonial Williamsburg will honor the holiday with a 10 a.m. service that includes a fifes and drums procession to three historic sites, beginning at the Governor’s Palace. The service will also include wreath laying, prayer and musket salutes. The ceremony is open to the public and does not require a Colonial Williamsburg ticket.
