Williamsburg Va Wedding Venues

Question :

I’m planning a wedding in Williamsburg (well, I’m trying to!) and I’m having trouble finding anywhere big enough that isn’t a country club or a hotel. Now, I wouldn’t have a problem with those, except that I’d like to use a close friend out of Richmond for my catering and the country clubs and hotels usually make you use their people.

Places I’ve looked so far that will allow outside caterers are:

Legacy Hall in New Town
the Community Building in Williamsburg

Read about Legacy Hall, The Freight Shed and The WIlliamsburg Community Building here.

… annnnd that’s all I can find.

Both of those venues were WAY too small. We’ll need around 6000 square feet of space to accommodate everyone, plus catering, plus bars, plus a DJ, plus a dance floor…

HELP! Does ANYONE know of a LARGE space in or near Williamsburg that will allow the use of an outside caterer?!

You might try the Alumni House at William and Mary. Here is their website http://alumni.wm.edu/house/

Or Williamsburg Winery both will allow outside caterers. The Winery will require you to purchase wine from them. You can check out their website here http://www.williamsburgwinery.com/events-&-functions.htm

The contact at the Winery is Michelle Butler 757 229 0999 x138. If I can think of any others I will post.  If you don’t have a florist yet you should contact Williamsburg Floral. http://www.williamsburgfloral.com/

Elgin Morris and his staff are fabulous and do most of the major events around town. 757 229 9844

For a smaller event  If you are having 160 people or less at a seated event try the new clubhouse at The Settlement at Powhatan Creek. They just finished it and are booking parties, weddings etc. Has a great kitchen and you can use anyone you want to cater. ( I think) their phone is 757 645 3000.

Colonial Heritage also has a large clubhouse. I think you have to use them for food though.

The charm of historic Williamsburg coupled with the pristine craftsmanship of the 25,000 square-foot Clubhouse creates a setting perfect for celebrating your special day.

The Colonial Heritage Club main ballroom offers an inviting atmosphere for hosting up to 350 of your family and friends.
