Williamsburg VA Acoustic Concert-

Whitetop Mountain Band will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 27, at the Williamsburg Library theater.

A family-based acoustic band originating in the 1940s from the mountains of Virginia, the Whitetop Mountain Band’s versatile repertoire features old-time fiddling and banjo picking, bluegrass, ballads, mountain gospel songs, and flatfoot dancing. The band, known for its charisma and energy, performs at concerts, competitions, and festivals such as the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, the Carter Family Festival, the Virginia Arts Festival, and the World Music Institute in NYC. They have toured the United Kingdom, Ireland, Wales, and Australia, and were recently part of the National Council for the Traditional Arts Crooked Road Music tour in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Idaho. The Whitetop Mountain Band has recorded on the Arhoolie Record Label, Heritage, and the Virginia Foundation of the Humanities Crooked Road Series, and has appeared on TV and radio.

Jointly presented by William & Mary’s Ewell Concert Series and the library’s Dewey Decibel Series. Free. Doors open at 7 p.m.
