Local Chef/ Restaurateur David Everett is teaming up with Colonial Williamsburg to open a new restaurant in the former SunTrust Bank Building on Merchants Square.
Everett, who is the chef/owner of the The Trellis and the Blue Talon Bistro also located in Merchants Square, is planning a 140-seat casual restaurant that has yet to be named.
The restaurant will serve casual dishes and beers, some with an English pub theme.
The restaurant will occupy the first floor and lower level of the former bank building at Duke of Gloucester and North Henry streets. The brick building topped by a cupola was built in the 1930s with additions in the 1950s and 1960s. It will be completely renovated, with six offices available for lease on the second floor.
Renovations will start this fall with an opening planned for spring 2012.
