If you want to help- take the sons whose dad is gone, (and likely no other extended family member nearby) and include them in your family outings. (hiking/BBQ/fishing/biking) They need a male role model. I did my best as a mom, but I’m not a man. They needed that male guidance. The husband is home now – but his absence for so long….changed who our children were meant to be. Make a difference in the next military family you meet- with action, not words.

When I was growing up in Virginia there were no laws about Halloween and as I remember it we started trick or treating as soon as it got dark, cause that was in the spirit of the holiday. Now restricting kids to two hours of fun is just wrong. Ill give out candy up to the witching hour as long as I keep getting little ghouls and goblins coming to my house.
