Located in Merchants Square, the Kimball Theatre is home to current films and live performances. On any given day, you might see a Colonial Williamsburg interpreter portray Patrick Henry or enjoy a jazz ensemble of talented students from the College of William and Mary. Perhaps the Peninsula’s Jewish Film Festival is in town, or maybe you’ll see players performing an 18th-century Grand Medley of Entertainments. Whatever your tastes, the Kimball Theatre is at the center of Williamsburg’s community activities. Lobby
The intimate lobby with vaulted ceiling is the perfect setting for greeting friends prior to a performance and accommodating a small gathering during intermission. The lobby houses the ticket booth, concession stand, elevator, and for the convenience of our guests, a “light lock,” which keeps light from distracting theater patrons when the doors are opened. Restrooms are located at either end of the light lock.

Auditorium
The auditorium is designed to be an ideal visual and listening environment for films, live stage productions, and musical concerts. The soft colors, combined with the appropriate light level from the magnificent chandelier and wall sconces, ensure our guests enjoy all performances in a warm comfortable setting. The seats are placed with the guests in mind, allowing each person an excellent view of the stage. There are 410 seats with space to accommodate six wheelchairs.

Screening Room
The screening room, located on the second floor, contains state-of-the-art digital and film projection systems, and will comfortably seat 35 guests. When empty, this room can be used as a reception room prior to the performance start time. Additionally it can be used for classes, meetings, or other private functions.

Administrative Offices
The Administrative Offices, located a short distance form the screening room, house the Community Cultural Affairs Department’s director, program manager, production manager, and support staff.

Special Accommodations
Throughout the facility, guests who require special accommodations will enjoy visiting the Kimball Theatre. There are multiple wheelchair positions and handicapped seats in the auditorium, and adequate wheelchair space in the screening room. Restrooms are wheelchair accessible, an elevator is available to reach the 2nd floor screening room, and a wheelchair lift can be used to access the stage area. Assisted listening devices are available in both the screening room and auditorium for all performances.

• When is the box office open?
  Daily from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets may also be purchased from any Colonial Williamsburg ticket location (i.e. Visitor Center or Merchants Square ticket office). Tickets can also be purchased by calling 1-800-HISTORY.
  
• Can you purchase tickets in advance?
  Yes, at any Colonial Williamsburg ticket venue or by calling 1-800-HISTORY and placing the order on a credit card. When the film is in the screening room, the purchase of advance tickets is strongly recommended.
  
• When do you begin seating?
  30 minutes before the start of a performance.
  
• What are the prices?
  Regular film admission is currently $6.50 for general admission and $5.50 for students and seniors (55 years). Other programs vary by performance. Check the theater schedule or poster for pricing.
  
• What is the senior discount age?
  55.

• Do CW passes (including Good Neighbors and employees) get discounts?
  Not on Kimball Theatre programming. We consider our prices already discounted. These passes do receive discounts on Colonial Williamsburg colonial performances, including Founding Fathers, Grand Medley of Entertainments, and Eighteenth-Century Plays.
  
• How many people do you seat?
  The Auditorium seats 410. The Screening Room seats 35.

• Why and when is a film shown in the 35-seat screening room?
  The 35-seat screening room allows us to show films seven days a week, even when there is a live production, another film, or private function occurring simultaneously in the auditorium. In our schedule, the day-to-day calendar notes if the film is located in the 35-seat screening room. If the film is in the screening room, the purchase of advanced tickets is strongly recommended.
  
• Are there assisted listening devices available?
  Yes, there are systems available in both the screening room and auditorium for all performances.
  
• Is there handicapped seating available?
  Yes, there are multiple wheelchair positions and handicapped seats in the auditorium, and adequate wheelchair space in the screening room. In addition, restrooms are wheelchair accessible, an elevator is available to reach the 2nd floor screening room, and a wheelchair lift can be used to access the stage area.
  
• How can I be added to the mailing list?
  Fill out the small sheet located on the table next to the concession stand and place it in the lower tray.
  
• Do you give away or sell the lobby posters?
  No. It is our theater policy not to sell or give away posters.
  
• Who decides the films and/or programs at the theater?
  We have a program manager who has been booking entertainment for 25 years.
  
• Who do I contact about renting the theater or production proposals?

• Is the theater looking for employees/volunteers?
