By Susan Robertson VA Gazette Dec 2008 —Godspeed Animal Care prides itself on two things, honest diagnosis and customer service. It was enough to win the title of best veterinarian for 2008.
Kelly O’Connor, practice manager and veterinarian Pamela Dumont were pleasantly surprised to hear the clinic took top honors. They believe their two pillars of service are what got them the votes.
“We value the relationship we have with our clients,” O’Connor said. “And we value the relationship they have with their pets,” Dumont added.
She said they treat every pet that comes into the clinic as if it was their own. No diagnosis is held back, and if the staff at Godspeed can find a better way to treat an animal then they will.
The clinic is an recognized by the American Hospital Association for it’s dedication to doing procedures in the most optimal way. Dumont said they also provide a broader spectrum of care than many other clinics.
She explained that they have everything they need to make house calls. Unlike other clinics, where the veterinarian goes out alone and can do some care in the home, Godspeed has a van equipped for the job and always sends both a vet and a technician.
There’s also someone on call at the practice 24hours a day. It’s not a 24-hour clinic, but even when the doors are closed there is someone there to check on hospitalized animals.
Godspeed also has a strong relationship with the Heritage Humane Society. The clinic is currently working closely with Heritage Humane to make all of it’s pets healthy and adoptable. Colonial Veterinary Clinic placed second, and Noah’s Ark was voted into third.
