One of my favorite memories growing up in Virginia was vacationing in the State Parks during the summer. We would rent a cabin and spend the week. There were so may things to keep us occupied, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking and exploring.
Now that we have kids of our own we are duplicating those same memories. Last year we went to Hungry Mother State Park where time has stood still. Although it had been 30 + years since I was there hardly anything had changed. We hiked the trails swam in the lake, kayaked, had picnics and stayed in a log cabin.
Here is a short video detailing our wonderful park system in Virginia. Pick the one you like and then make reservations for a cabin. They tend to go quickly. No matter where you are within the state it seems there is always one within a short drive.
