The Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg will be hosting their 46th annual Spring Art Show, Art on the Square, Sunday, April 26th, 2009 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Rain or Shine.

The annual event is dedicated to providing an art show that offers original, high-quality, handcrafted diverse mediums of art and will take place on Duke of Gloucester and Boundary SJWC-2009treet located in Merchant Square.

For over 45 years, the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg has organized its annual spring art show to benefit numerous local charities through our Arts Donations Forum as well as a Fine Arts Scholarship. The show, held in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg in Merchant’s Square, attracts almost 250 applicants each year! Only 160 or so artists and craftsmen are selected to exhibit at the show.

Each year, local Williamsburg artist, Richard DePaul, generously donates an original watercolor painting to the club for Art on the Square. Prints are made of the painting and are sold during the show. The painting will be raffled off, with monies from the sale of tickets and posters being used for our annual Fine Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to local high school seniors who plan to pursue further studies in the arts.
