Help Plant a tree in a State Park- FREE

To Do list items for the week: walk the dog, pick up dry cleaning, wash the car, oh and plant trees in State Parks across the US. Don’t worry, the last one is easy and you can do it from your desk with the click of a mouse.

Odwalla, is donating $100,000 to plant trees in State Parks all across the US (actually California, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, Texas, Maryland, Michigan and Virginia to be exact). When you go to the site, all you have to do is pick your favorite state and click "Plant My Tree." Then the site allows you to see which states have had the most trees planted thus far – you may be surprised to find out which states are in the lead and which states could use a few branches of support.

Launched yesterday, trees can be donated from now until the end of the year (December 31, 2009) and will be planted late 2009 and early 2010. Tree species chosen will depend on the region, the organizers want to choose something native, and the trees will be planted in areas in need of reforestation. The Plant a Tree website also has facts about tree planting. Odwalla will donate $1.00 for each click and estimates that trees cost between $.25 and $1.20, depending on the tree.

Happy planting!
