New health and fitness facilities are continuing to open or explore opening in the New Town area of Williamsburg, VA all catering to an increasingly fragmented health/sports market.
TPMG ( Dr Potter, Dr Carr, etc) is opening a combined Physical Therapy and Fitness location on Discovery Park Blvd near Harbour Coffee. (More details to follow)
American Family Fitness out of Richmond has confirmed that they are seeking a location in New Town . A rumor was circulating that they would take over Old Navy’s spot but that isn’t confirmed yet.
AFF’s most recently opened location in Short Pump is a 90,000-sf club which is slightly less than two enclosed football fields. It was the company’s seventh location.They cater – as the name suggests – to the suburban family crowd.
Richmond Fitness Inc. operates seven American Family Fitness locations throughout Fredericksburg and Central Virginia with approximately 110,000 members. American Family Fitness was ranked the 30th largest revenue producing for-profit health club in North America in 2007, according to Club Industry magazine and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
