His Chesapeake-based Summit Construction Corp ., is building Hampton Roads’ 10th annual St. Jude Dream Home . The company started construction on the dwelling in early November and held a ground-breaking ceremony Nov . 30, 2009
The fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will sell $100 tickets for a chance at winning this year’s home, valued at about $515,000.
The four-bedroom, three-bath, 3528 square foot home is in Chesapeake’s Chapel Hill Estates neighborhood, at 1213 Rosebud Lane. The house will also feature a gourmet kitchen, sun room, ,Granite counters, hard wood floors, 9-foot ceilings and a two-car attached garage.The $100 Tickets will be available beginning Jan. 19. Kinser was a little skeptical when he first signed on for this project, "But after visiting St. Jude Hospital and seeing how they function, He is a firm believer."
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn., is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. Families without insurance are never asked to pay.
Chances of winning a prize are one in 500, said April Warren, senior event marketing representative with the fundraising arm of St. Jude. No more than 10,500 tickets will be sold.
The 3,528-square foot house is valued at about $515,000 and includes granite counter tops, hardwood floors and 9-foot ceilings.
This is the 10th annual St. Jude Dream Home for Hampton Roads. Construction of the home is by Chesapeake-based Summit Construction Corp. Twenty-six other locations across the United States participate in similar Dream Home programs.
Locally, 10,500 tickets will be sold for the house drawing.
Other prizes include a $1,000 gift certificate at Value City Furniture, fresh flowers for one year, a $1,000 Target gift card, a laptop computer, a weekend getaway and a $1,000 gift certificate to The Full Cup, among others.
Chesapeake’s Chapel Hill Estates will be complete in two to three years and will have a total of 137 homes. Chapel Hill Development Corp . donated the $140,000 lot on which the giveaway home is being built.
