Poquoson Seafood Festival Starts today Oct 15, 2010

poquoson seafood festivalIt’s that time of year again, where the hottest thing to do on in Hampton Roads is to head to the waterfront community of Poquoson for its annual Seafood Festival, starting on Friday, October 15th and running through Sunday, October 17th.  Celebrating the history and life of the Chesapeake Bay working watermen, the Poquoson Seafood Festival attracts over 50,000 people.

As the name of this festival suggests, there will be plenty of delicious seafood served up by over 25 food vendors at the Food Pavilion section of the festival grounds. So, make sure you come to the festival hungry because you will definitely want to try some of it out!

This year the festival starts off with the party sounds of Slapwater performing on Friday night at 6:00pm, with fireworks after the performance.  Other performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday include Soul Patch and Tailgate Down.

One of my favorite sections of the festival has always been the arts and crafts vendors.  This is a juried art show and the items for sale are all homemade.

Festival hours are from 5pm to 10pm Friday, 10am to 10pm Saturday, and 12:30pm to 6:30pm Sunday. Admission to the festival is free, however there is a $5 parking fee.
