Colonial Williamsburg Offering Free Passes to Military For Veterans Day 2010

veterans day colonial williamsburgIn honor of Veterans Day, Colonial Williamsburg is offering free admission passes to active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents from Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 11-14, 2010

The "Honoring Service to America" pass provides admission to Colonial Williamsburg exhibition sites, the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and most day programs.

These weekend-long admission passes are available only at Colonial Williamsburg on-site ticket sales locations, including the sales desk at the Visitor Center, the Lumber House Ticket Office in the Historic Area, or the ticket window in Merchants Square. Appropriate military identification is required.

The service member need not be present. Free “Honoring Service to America” passes will be provided to immediate family members of currently deployed troops with appropriate identification. Military veterans who separated before retirement can bring a copy of their honorable discharge paperwork, DD Form 214, as identification of service.

On November 11, 2010 – Colonial Williamsburg honors America’s veterans with a procession down Duke of Gloucester Street. The parade culminates in a public ceremony, with militia and cannon crew firing volleys in recognition of those who serve. Hear Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums alongside voices from past and present

All veterans of service in America’s Armed Forces are invited to participate in the parade beginning at the Capitol at 4:30 pm, with groups forming at 4:15 p.m. (Veterans unable to walk the distance can join the parade near the Magazine)

After proceeding to the Courthouse, there will be a ceremony honoring all veterans of American service

Virginia State Parks will waive parking fees for all Virginians on Veteran’s Day, November 11th. These fees will be waived at all 35 state parks managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Military veterans and active-duty Service Members will be able to eat free at any Applebee’s across the U.S. on Veteran’s Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. There will be six entrées available from the menu. Guests will be asked to show one or more of the following as proof of service: a U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, a photograph in uniform, or wearing a uniform in person. Military Eat Free at Golden Corral

Golden Corral’s 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide. Home Depot and Lowe’s Military Discount

Home Depot and Lowe’s have long been known to offer a 10% holiday discount to military members and their families and in many cases veterans and retirees. These promotions were usually limited to the main military holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veterans Day. Well, no longer – both companies now offer the 10% discount every day of the week.
