Planting the first vines in 2001, the founders of New Kent Winery started realizing their dream of opening a winery in New Kent County. While the vines were maturing to proper age, the founders planned a 17,000 square foot winery, built from materials reclaimed from buildings well over a century old and equipped with state-of-the-art wine making equipment from around the world. The winery itself, designed by Williamsburg architect John Hopke, has been modeled to reflect an earlier time when wine-making was common in the New Kent region.
Unique, warm and inviting, The Tasting Room is the centerpiece of the New Kent Winery. It is there that you’ll sample an exciting variety of wines from your own complimentary etched wine glass. Taste the delicate intricacies of their award-winning Chardonnay Reserve and Meritage; the easily-drinkable Vidal Blanc and White Merlot; and the White Norton, a rose fashioned from grapes native to Virginia.
