Once again it is time to celebrate the fruits of the vineyard at the Newport News annual Wine Festival on Saturday, September 24, 3:00 to 7:00 PM by the fountain at City Center in Oyster Point. Vineyards by the Fountain offers an array of wines from around the world including varieties from Australia, France, Italy, Spain, the fertile soils of America’s Pacific Northwest regions and Virginia. Returning for its fourth year, the Beer Garden will give curious connoisseurs of the world’s oldest beverage a chance to sample excellent craft beers.
Vineyards by the Fountain will begin later in the day this year, at 3:00 pm. This will allow patrons time to get those Saturday errands done and then enjoy a relaxed afternoon of great wines, beer and entertainment. Music will be provided by Lewis McGehee and Matt Thomas.
Wine stations will be set up across the grounds – one for each country with an additional area featuring sparkling wines which have become widely popular at the annual event that boasts delicious food, great music, and good company. Omar’s Carriage House will have food for sale offering great pairings to complement the wine samples. Cabot Creamery Cooperative will offer an array of cheeses to sample. Wines by the bottle will also be available for purchase (to be consumed on site).
Tasters’ tickets for either wine or beer are $25 in advance, $30 day of at the gate and include a souvenir tasting glass. Non-Tasters’ admission is $15. Cash Only On-Site. Patrons must be 21+ to purchase or consume alcohol. Proper identification is required. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. No carry-in alcoholic beverages or tables, patrons may bring chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets. No pets are allowed. The event is on – rain or shine.
