Want to hear what is happening with Interstate 64 ?

The Virginia Department of Transportation is planning to host informational meetings about its study of the Interstate 64 corridor from I-95 in Richmond to I-664 in Hampton.

The study is intended to identify transportation needs within the 75-mile I-64 corridor. A meeting will be held in Newport News Wednesday night and in New Kent Thursday night.

An Environmental Impact Statement is being prepared as part of the study, which is scheduled for completion in early 2014.

The public meetings are intended to give residents an opportunity to provide input about the scope of issues the study will address.

Additional information on the project can be viewed on VDOT’s Website.

What is an open forum public hearing?
An open forum public hearing (open house) encourages one-on-one
discussions in an informal setting. This style of meeting has an easy,
open and encouraging effect on citizens and can be very helpful in
building a sense of consensus between the Department and citizens.
At the meeting, people familiar with all facets and features of the
project visually display their information. The purpose of the open
forum may be to suggest solutions or may simply be to give
information and facts. The process is highly interactive with technical
people presenting and fielding questions from communities, individual
citizens, or small groups.
