All lots have high building sites well above the 100 year Flood Plain.

River’s Bend at Uncle’s Neck is well suited to those who desire up-scale living in a private, natural setting. More than half of the 350 acre River’s Bend at Uncle’s Neck community is permanently preserved tidal marsh, woodlands, and managed wildlife areas. The majority of home sites offer access to navigable water on Uncle’s Neck Creek or the Chickahominy River, which offers trophy bass fishing. An unparalleled and limited opportunity, River’s Bend at Uncle’s Neck is the premier destination for those who desire completely natural, private, upscale living. Water views and access vary from tidal marshlands to deep river, and 200 acres of managed wildlife areas offer trails, meadows, and freedom to roam.

The donation of the easement is the result of over three years of work, and showcases how preservation and progress can work together.

Way before the project became a reality, Donald Hazelwood sat down with the Conservancy’s executive director and some of the Conservancy’s Board members to discuss how the land could be developed, while at the same time protect the natural resources that were abundant on the almost 400-acre parcel. While the property could have been sub-divided into over 110 units, River’s Bend at Uncle’s Neck will be a development of 35 lots, mostly waterfront property.rivers bend An exquisite tract of naturally preserved terrain, River's Bend at Uncle's Neck is a waterfront community privately nestled along the Chickahominy River in James City County, Virginia. Key in the development of only 35 units was James City County’s waiver of the requirement for a central well system for the project. Allowing for individual wells (which does not create a greater draw on the aquifer) gave Uncle’s Neck LLC the financial ability to limit development and protect a major portion of the property. “This is a great project for us,” said Henry Stephens. “The land surrounding this community is some of the most beautiful and environmentally sensitive land in the county, and we are pleased to be working with a wildlife biologist to ensure for the safety and preservation of the flora and fauna on the site,” Stephens continued.
