Arts Month 2012 is right around the corner in Williamsburg VA
This year Arts Month kicks off with a Virginia Symphony Concert at the Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre, at William and Mary on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 7:30pm
The FREE performance is open to the public and co-sponsored by the City of Williamsburg, the College of William & Mary, William & Mary’s Student Assembly and APM Terminals.
In his third year performing at Lake Matoaka, VSO’s dynamic Associate Conductor Benjamin Rous returns with Symphony Under the Stars, a prelude to the VSO’s 2012-2013 program. It features selections by Mozart, Rossini, Scott Joplin, Marvin Hamlisch and more.
Guests are invited to bring family and friends, beach chairs and blankets. Personal coolers and picnic baskets will be permitted; however, no external alcohol will be allowed. Wine will be available for purchase on site. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at Phi Beta Kappa Hall.

This concert is the start of The Virginia Symphony’s annual series of fall outdoor concerts, Symphony under the Stars, with a total four concerts taking place over Labor Day weekend and three additional performances that take place in September.
