Join David Baldacci help Literacy For Life

imageJoin international best-selling author David Baldacci in supporting local adult learners at this year’s Reading Between the Wines event. On October 10, 2012, our community will gather to enjoy scrumptious food, delicious wine, an exciting silent auction, and a presentation by David Baldacci. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Literacy for Life, a nonprofit organization committed to teaching adults the literacy skills required for self-sufficiency, better health, and meaningful participation in society.

Literacy for Life (LFL) is the only organization in the Greater Williamsburg area that provides one-to-one tutoring for adults in reading, writing, math, and English as a second language. With the help of nearly 300 community volunteers, LFL improves the literacy skills of about 500 learners each year. LFL also helps learners set and reach personal goals, such as getting a driver’s license, helping a child with his homework, obtaining U.S. citizenship, or applying for a better job.

David Baldacci made a big splash on the literary scene with the publication of his first novel, Absolute Power. A major motion picture adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. David has published 24 novels, all of which have been national and international bestsellers. A lifelong Virginian, David received his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. David’s greatest philanthropic efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation, which supports family literacy in the United States.
David cannot make Reading Between the Wines a success on his own – we need your help to make it the hit of the season! There are four easy ways to support this effort:

  • Purchase tickets to attend Reading Between the Wines with your friends and family
  • Become an event sponsor by making a direct donation
  • Place an ad in our silent auction information booklet
  • Donate an item to the silent auction (valued at $50 or more)

For more information, please visit www.literacyforlife.org or contact Erin Hogge at erin.hogge@jsgcorp.com.
Thank you in advance for your support of Literacy for Life!
