Looking for new and exciting events to enjoy with your family and friends this year? Yorktown VA announces its main event line-up for 2015.

Listed below are some of the events and festivals in Yorktown for the coming year. Among the special events returning this year are Yorktown Market Days, Pirates Invade Yorktown, Blues, Brews & BBQ, Art at the River, Shagging on the Riverwalk Concert Series, Military Band Concert Series, Virginia Symphony Concert, Yorktown Art Stroll, Yorktown Day, Rhythms on the Riverwalk Concert Series, Yorktown Wine Festival, and the full Christmas event line-up, including the annual Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade. New events this year include the Sister Cities French Market and Lafayette’s Hermione Voyage 2015 with Yorktown being the first port of call in the United States. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra returns to Yorktown Saturday, August 30

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Benjamin Rous, returns to Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 for its 18th annual outdoor concert. This year’s concert will be held at Riverwalk Landing on Water Street in historic Yorktown. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and picnic baskets.

A just-for-fun blue ribbon judging for the most creative picnic set-up will be awarded prior to the concert. The award-winning Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform a pre-concert show at 6 p.m.

The symphony concert is funded by community contributors from organizations, businesses and individuals along with sponsors, York County, York County Arts Commission and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, whose financial support makes it possible. The volunteer Celebrate Yorktown Committee annually raises $24,000 to present this free-to-the-public evening of music for the enjoyment of the community.

Event parking information is as follows:

• Plan to arrive early as parking is expected to fill up in Yorktown.

• Event parking will be available at the York County Courts and Office Complex, Administration and York Hall buildings on Ballard Street, and the Riverwalk Landing Parking Terrace on Water Street.

• Please bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

• Limited Handicap parking available in the lower level of the parking terrace. No rain date is scheduled for the concert. In the event of inclement weather, please call the event weather hotline at 890-3520 for updated information.

BRET MICHAELS AND MERCYME KICKOFF BUSCH GARDENS® LIVE AND GLORY AT THE GARDENS™ CONCERT SERIES

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 10, 2014) – Busch Gardens® is turning up the volume this summer with the return of its popular concert series, Busch Gardens® LIVE and Glory at the Gardens™.
Legendary rocker and reality TV star Bret Michaels will kick off Busch Gardens LIVE on May 4. Michaels’ 25-plus year career includes hits like “Talk Dirty To Me” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” as well as solo hits “Nothing To Lose,” and his new single currently on the radio, “A Beautiful Soul.”
Glory at the Gardens begins May 11 with a performance by Christian band MercyMe. Best known for their mega hit “I Can Only Imagine,” the Grammy nominated, American Music Award and eight-time Dove award-winning band released their ninth album, Welcome to the New, on April 8. Additional concert dates will be announced soon.
Busch Gardens LIVE and Glory at the Gardens concerts are held at Busch Gardens’ Royal Palace Theatre. The theater’s gates open approximately two hours before the scheduled 7 p.m. performances. All Busch Gardens concerts are included with park admission. For guests’ convenience complimentary tickets are distributed throughout the day at the park’s Guest Relations building. Tickets are distributed one-per-person on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. All party members must be present to receive tickets. Tickets are required for entry to the concert. Premium seating in a reserved area is also available with the purchase of concert and dinner packages.

Rhythms on the Riverwalk coming in September 2012 to Yorktown

York County has announced their Eighth Annual Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert series, to be held this fall at Riverwalk Landing in historic Yorktown. The weekly concert series will take place on the performance stage, overlooking the York River.

This five-week concert series will once again feature some of the finest in jazz and big band music the area has to offer.

In addition, country music will once again be featured in this year’s (2012) line-up.

The series will be held on Fridays from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. beginning September 7 and running through October 5.

The entertainment schedule is as follows:

September 7 Williamsburg Classic Swing Orchestra

September 14 Super Jazz Band featuring Conni Mann

September 21 Charles Darden Band

September 28 Doug Dunn and the Steel River Band

October 5 Tailgate Down

The series is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs. Food will be available for purchase. Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building, and other designated public parking lots throughout Yorktown.

York County is excited to offer the 2012 Shagging on the Riverwalk Beach Music Concert Series, to be held this summer at Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown. Entertainment will take place on the performance stage at Riverwalk Landing, overlooking the York River. This seven-week concert series will feature some of the area’s top acts playing beach favorites, oldies, Motown and more.

Start your weekend early this summer, and join us for Shagging on the Riverwalk every Thursday night from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. June 7 through June 21, and again from July 12 through Aug. 2. The Colonial Shag Club will again provide shag lessons, demonstrations, club information, and answer questions related to this popular form of dance. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes, as one of the area’s largest outdoor dance floors will give you the opportunity to practice your shagging:

York County is proud to offer the Seventh Annual Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert series, to be held this fall at Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown. The weekly concert series will take place on the performance stage, overlooking the York River.

This five-week concert series will once again feature some of the area’s finest in jazz and big band music. In addition, country music will once again be featured in this year’s line-up.

VSO musicians are back from summer vacation and tuning up to entertain you with enticing free outdoor concerts! Check out these family-friendly outdoor nights with the orchestra. Bring family and friends; bring picnic baskets, beach chairs and blankets.

Virginia Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Benjamin Rous, returns to Historic Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 for its 15th annual outdoor concert at the Yorktown Victory Monument on Historic Main Street.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and picnic baskets. A just-for-fun blue ribbon judging for the most creative picnic set-up will be awarded prior to the concert. The award-winning Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform a pre-concert show at 6 p.m. Vendors will be on-site with light picnic fare, hot dogs, desserts and soft drinks.

The symphony concert is funded by community contributors from organizations, businesses and individuals along with sponsors York County and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, whose financial support makes it possible. The volunteer Celebrate Yorktown Committee annually raises $25,000 to present this free-to-the-public evening of music for the enjoyment of the community.

Event parking will be available at the York County Courts and Office Complex, Administration and York Hall buildings on Ballard Street, National Park Service Visitor Center, and the Riverwalk Landing Parking Terrace on Water Street.
Free handicapped-accessible trolley service will be available from these parking lots from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and beginning again at the conclusion of the concert.
Due to heavy traffic; the trolley will not service the Visitor Center. Guests wishing to park at the Visitor Center will have a short walk to the concert grounds.
Due to limited capacity, heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the wait lines for the trolleys after the concert may be longer.

Shagging Returns To Yorktown for 2011

York County, VA is excited to offer the 2011 Shagging on the Riverwalk Beach Music Concert Series, to be held this spring and summer at Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown.

Shagging on the Riverwalk is a summer concert series held at Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown and features some of the area’s finest beach music, Motown, oldies and more. Guests have the opportunity to practice the “shag” on the large outdoor dance floor, and all are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The event is free and open to the public.

This gathering is truly fun and exciting for anyone who really appreciates the shag. Back by popular demand for a sixth straight year, York County is excited to offer the 2011 Shagging on the Riverwalk Beach Music Concert Series. Entertainment will take place on the performance stage at Riverwalk Landing, overlooking the York River in historic Yorktown.

. Bill Deal passed suddenly in 2003 and we lost one of the great Beach singers of his time..Most Folks think the Rhondels were one-hit wonders but the truth is that they had 3 Top 40 hits to their credit; "I’ve Been Hurt", "May I" and Who Do You Think You Are.

I guess I am showing my age as I remember him playing at a high school prom when I was growing up in VA Beach.

This years seven-week concert series will feature some of the areas top acts playing beach favorites, oldies, Motown and more. Start your weekend early this summer, and join us for Shagging on the Riverwalk every Thursday night from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. June 16 through June 30, and again from July 21 through August 11. The fifth annual “Rhythms on the Riverwalk” concert series kicks off this weekend at Riverwalk Landing in historic Yorktown. The weekly concert series will take place on the performance stage at Riverwalk Landing, overlooking the York River in historic Yorktown.
This five-week concert series will once again feature some of the area’s finest in jazz, big band and swing. The series will be held on Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 and running through Oct. 9.

Back by popular demand for a fourth straight year, York County is excited to offer the 2009 Shagging on the Riverwalk Beach Music Concert Series. Entertainment will take place on the performance stage at Riverwalk Landing, overlooking the York River in historic Yorktown.
