Sheeran Sotheby’s International Realty closed its last Williamsburg office. At the peak of the market the company had three offices. One on Richmond Rd, a new home sales center in Greensprings West and an office in Governors Land.
It seems that it’s focus on the luxury market was it’s demise. The brokerage became a Sotheby’s International affiliate back in 2007 just as our real estate market was beginning its downward turn . In 2006 there were 24 home sales over $1 million in the Williamsburg Va market, in 2011 there were 6.
While the upper tier sales have dropped there was a 1.2% increase in the total number of homes sold in 2011 versus 2010 in the Williamsburg VA market. It should be noted that homes sales in all of the following price ranges were up in 2011 as compared to 2010: $100k-150k, 250k-300k, 350k-400k, 500k-550k, 700k-750k,750k-800k, and ending with the 800k-850k price range where sales were up a whopping 166% !
Sheeran has moved to William E. Wood Realtors office in Williamsburg along with eight of his Sotheby’s team, according to the William E. Wood website.
