Fords Colony Golf in Rocky Mount Re-Opens

Fords-Colony-RM-Hole-3  Ford’s Colony Golf Course in Rocky Mount NC has a new name and new management. The Golf Club at Rocky Mount  will now be managed by Traditional Golf Properties of Toano a golf management company that oversees 12 golf courses from Maryland to North Carolina.

Citizens & Farmers Bank foreclosed on the property after Realtec, the developer failed to make payments to take care of the course during this time of transition.

“Our company is managing the golf course for the bank,” said Mike Bennet, vice president of operations for Traditional Golf Properties. “They’re going through the process of foreclosure, and they retained us to manage it for them.”

“The banks’ intent is to get the course back up and running and market it to the public,” said Matt Ohlschlager, director of portfolio management for C&F Bank. “We brought in what we believe to be a solid management company to operate the course.”

Although there still is uncertainty surrounding a potential buyer for the course, C&F Bank officials aren’t looking too far ahead.

“The main focus is to get the foreclosure behind us,” Ohlschlager said. “As far as long term, whether we hold it or sell it, I don’t have a comment on that because we really don’t know when or how.”
