The "high-profile event" Kingsmill will host this month will not be a repeat of the 2009 visit by President Barack Obama and the House Democratic Caucus. This year the resort will host the other side.
According to Gordon Neal, deputy press secretary for Rep. Rob Wittman (R-1st), the House Republican Conference will visit Kingsmill for its annual retreat Jan. 16-18, 2013
While the event will be held in Wittman’s district, Neal said the congressman isn’t the host.
"All the details are being handled by the conference," he said in a phone interview Tuesday.
The Gazette first learned of the upcoming event when Kingsmill Executive Vice President Robin Carson notified residents the resort would be closed for most of the three-day event.
